The European Commission’s Impact Assessments disregard Developing Countries

PUBLIKATION

As part of the pre-legislative process for the most important and far-reaching European Commission (EC) initiatives, the EC formulates an “impact assessment” (IA) before it makes a proposal. As a part of each IA, the EC is obliged to assess the consequences for developing countries if the proposal is pertinent. Concord Denmark has conducted a screening that shows that the EC in the majority of cases fails to meet this obligation.
